Man eats underwear to beat breathalyzer

I think it is save to say that they guy would have failed the breathalyzer test. I just can't see a sober person thinking of this. This has to be the result of the "I am drunk and don't care because I won't remember it in the morning" thought process. Doesn't a sock make more sense?
