Microsoft: Rotten Effort?

Microsoft to customers: Buy more software or we will sent some BSA auditors after you.

It's bad enough when Microsoft strong-arms other software vendors into submission as a means of thwarting competition. But when it engages in underhanded tactics to intimidate users in order to land a software deal, we have a very disturbing situation on our hands. And someone needs to have the guts to speak out about it.

Rare mirage appears in Penglai, China

Believe it........or not.

A mirage takes place off east China coast in Penglai, on the tip of Shandong Province on May 7, 2006, with modern high-rise buildings, broad city streets and bustling cars as well as crowds of people were all clearly visible. Experts explained that a mirage is formed when moisture in the air becomes warmer than the temperature of sea water, which refracts rays of sunlight to create reflections of the landscape in the sky.

Security Watch: Gone in 60 seconds--the high-tech version

Does anyone remember how thieves used to steal cars back in the day? Pick the lock, use a slimjim or something similar, or just cheat and bust out a window. Well, it looks like the common car thief job qualifications just went up. Now all someone needs is a laptop and the ability to make some small talk. The Mercedes S550 has this cool, high tech keyless entry and ignition system. So what is wrong with that? The problem is that the system uses a 40 bit encrypted code sequence. 40 bit encryption was crack so long ago that it isn't funny. Anyone with just a little bit of computer skills can crack a 40 bit code in just minutes. Once that code it crack, that car is yours. Makes you think, huh.

Buyer Beware: Is StartLogic.com deals to good to be true?

I just want to say right up front that I have never heard of this company until today. I saw a post on digg.com about it and just wanted to help spread the word. As always, a site like this should be taking with a grain of salt.

It seems everyone who goes with hosts which advertise such "amazing" deals discover it's not worth the hastle! Startlogic is among the worste I've read of yet! Sometimes it's worth paying an extra buck for the BETTER service and to be realistic about what kind of spec's(server) will do you just, more is not always better.

New York Times: Microsoft and Google Set to Wage Arms Race

Gates, described Google in an interview late last year as a worthy adversary, a company to test MS's mettle."This is hypercompetition, make no mistake,".The rivalry between the companies is growing more combative, and with good reason: the outcome is likely to shape the future of competition in computing and the way people use information
